Default 06 Brake Light Question

This may be a strange one, but here goes. I have an 06 LT with 35000 miles. Everything seems to be working fine, but when I use the cruise I've noticed I really have to step down on the brake pedal to get it to turn off. All my other vehicles (05 Taurus, 10 Town & Country) the cruise turns off immediately when I touch the brake pedal. Now knowing what I know about this, the cruise is tied to the brake lights so that when the lights come on the cruise shuts off. I was backing into my parking spot at work and noticed in the window behind me that my brake lights weren't coming on until I was almost stopped. This made me curious, so I sat there for the next few minutes testing it out. The brake lights DO come on, but only after the brakes are somewhat engaged. Does anyone know if there is an adjustment on the switch or am I just out of luck? Thanks for any help!

It sounds like the brake pedal postion switch to me also. I don't believe it is adjustable, so it will need to be replaced.

why dont you hit the cancel switch to turn it off? dont get me wrong you should only have to tap the brakes to get it to turn off so i assume somethings not right. just curious.
