06-07 High Beam Switch in 00-04 ?
 

Does anyone know for sure if this will work?

I have a 2004 SS that has a high beam switch that makes you pull back to engage the high beams. Every other vehicle I have driven without a foot switch for the high beams, has a turn signal stalk that allows you to push it forward to engage the high beams and pull back to simply flash all the lights. The change made to the 00-04 Monte Carlo high beam function makes me wonder what GM was thinking :eek:. GM regained theirminds in06-07 because they went back to the norm :D.

Currentlytheswitch is intermittent and with turning the brights on and off you need to know exactly what direction to pull back with some finesse,and I need to get this replaced for the safety of my wife. She cannot operate the switch with the finesse needed, and sometimes it just doesn't work at all.

I need to know if instead of going to the stealership and paying my $100 warranty deductible for another annoying (in function)high beam switch, if I could rather purchase an 06-07 high beam switch from a GM parts dealer and put the better functioning switch in myself? It will probably be cheaper as I have seen the switch assembly for around $60.

Please tell me that GM didn't make any changes in the switch or wiringthat would keep me from doing this retro-fit.

Had the same problem in mine. Tried a used one and it didn't work. Took the car to the Dealer and had it fixed under my extended Warranty. I spent just under a hundred dollars for a near $800.00 tab ... Parts and Labor.

My switch wouldn't dim the High Beams until I tried it a few times. Sometimes if would hang-up in no-mans-land and the lights would be OFF.

The assembly DOES come out without removing the steering wheel. But there are a few "Blind" or "Hidden" Torx screws you need to find to get the all the steering column covers off.
I made a Tool. I taped a Torx Bit into the Box-end of a small combination wrench to loosen the fastener horizontal behind the steering wheel

Yeah, I've had the steering column of a 2002 Corvette taken completely apart because I needed to change a bad wiper switch. I love when GM throws an upside down inverse torx at you. Changing GM switches is something I'll have to get good at, if I keep buying them.

The question still remains, does aGen6switch fit and function in a Gen 5 ?

Yeah, I went to the dealership and paid the 100 warranty deductible.
