2012 Woodward Dream Cruise

18th annual Woodward Dream Cruise. Saturday, August 18. Metro Detroit area. I figured it would be smart to start talking about this sooner than later since this cruise is huge, and having time to plan in advance will more than likely help. I'm planning on going again this year. I took my 06 last year and, prior to that, took my 03 several times.

The cruise is an all day event and always a great time. Each year it seems to be larger and there are events during the week leading up to the cruise, as well as multiple car shows along the route the day of the cruise. Participating cities from Ferndale to Pontiac hold their own events along the 18 mile route. There is plenty of space to pull off the route and show where you want but it does fill up pretty quick.

I figured we could get a group of us Forum members together, decide on a meeting time and location for that morning, then do whatever we want for the rest of the day. People come from all over the country, not to mention the World, for this one so maybe we could get a few members from out of state. It's definitely worth it.

If you haven't seen something, you will probably see it here. Every make, model, and year of vehicle you can imagine.

Did it last year ....We need to reserve a spot to park while we are not cruising. As a club we prob can but I am not sure who to contact to do it.

STUMPMI 07-01-2012 04:47 PM

Maybe try contacting the website and see whats what...

I did the woodward cruise a number of years ago...and the streets were jammin with Cars,Hotrods, people....I pity the people who were trying to get from one side of town to the otherthru all the traffic. .lol

I believe the down river cruise was yesterday here in Taylor...
(we were at my neices graduation party up north in Capac) so we missed it...
Lemme know what you findout..Possibly I would be able to jump on the band wagon with you,...

Yeah, I'm not exactly sure who to contact about that either. I did just send an e-mail to the cruise's executive director addressing that question. I'll let you know what I hear back. I know parking usually opens up between Birmingham and Pontiac. South of Birmingham, and Pontiac itself, fills up fast.

wll i have never been to that i heasrd it is pretty awesome so i hope to go so right now count me in.

I am down there every year I live in the area so I hang out down there if not every weekend every other weekend. Cars have been out of storage for a couple months now so we've been out on Woodward.

Sounds good guys!

Tadd, I haven't heard anything back about parking yet, although I can't say I'm surprised.

Ashley said she's down for Woodward also, so there's about seven of us that I know of as of right now.

Hoping to get my new struts and lowering springs installed on the car before Woodward. I'm a little worried because I haven't ordered springs yet and I sort of have a small window of time in my schedule for the next six weeks leading up to Woodward, twelve of those days being a business trip for work. Just have to keep my fingers crossed.

06mistreSS 07-14-2012 08:40 PM

Bit of an update. I got an email reply on the 9th about who to contact for reserving parking. Response was "Please call to discuss your reservation needs during the Woodward Dream Cruise." I got the contact info for the Event Director of the Ferndale Woodward Dream Cruise so I'm not sure if that means he just coordinates in Ferndale's portion or what. Guess I have to call.

thats too bad you can't be with us up there but we can meet up in october for sure

Event Director for the Ferndale Woodward Dream Cruise suggested, if we aren't able to obtain parking along Woodward, that...

"On Saturday, August 18, the Ferndale Woodward Dream Cruise will have its annual Ferndale Classics & Cruis’n Legends Vehicle Show located on Vester Road at Woodward Avenue. It is only $25 per participant and includes awards and a goody bag. It is a “show and shine” event to show off classic vehicles to the public. Parking begins at 7am with the event over by 5pm. All participants are welcome to cruise Woodward during that time as well."

Only problem with that is it sounds like it's for "classic cars" only, as he states, and I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. I think we're looking for a place to meet up at and hang out when we're not cruising, not necessarily a specific show.

I asked who exactly I need to call to reserve spots so hopefully he can do that or he can direct me to somebody else.

Tadcaster 07-17-2012 11:03 AM

Thanks for all your hard work Matt. I would def. want to come to the cruise

06mistreSS 08-02-2012 07:28 AM

Yep, no problem Tadd. So, I haven't really had any luck yet. I would say our best bet is to just meet up somewhere in Birmingham or to the North where it's typically not as congested and go from there.

2004DE_JR 08-03-2012 04:45 AM

sounds good matt i am planning on going

Tadcaster 08-03-2012 06:28 AM

06mistreSS 08-03-2012 11:24 AM

Thanks Space, Yeah I was at last years for the whole day and had a great time. Woodward is definitely one that should be experienced at least once. People come from all over the country and world to attend. You will see vehicles at this cruise that you never see. I know we've got a bit of interest on here so let me know if you are planning on joining us at the Cruise this year!

Tim, Tadd and anybody else interested, I will keep you updated on a time and place to meet. Two weeks from tomorrow, Saturday, August 18th. It's getting close!

Tadcaster 08-03-2012 11:28 AM

Way kool ....!!!!

06mistreSS 08-12-2012 10:59 AM

Meeting Time and Location

PRIMARY MEETING SPOT: If meeting up with us, go here first. We will meet at the southwest corner of Woodward Avenue and Thirteen Mile Road in Royal Oak at 8:30am, Saturday, August 18th. There's a shopping complex with a Kroger and a good size parking lot so we'll meet there. If anyone has an issue with the time let me know but I figured the earlier we meet the better. Shouldn't have an issue since we'll be meeting early in the morning when traffic is lower. We'll try to park as close to the lot perimeter as possible.

Kroger's parking lot can be accessed from both Woodward and Thirteen Mile.

Kroger
30991 Woodward Ave.
Royal Oak, MI 48073

ALTERNATE MEETING SPOT: If, for whatever reason, we cannot get into the Kroger lot that morning, head North six miles and we will meet on the Northwest corner of Woodward Avenue and Square Lake Road. There is a small shopping complex here with a Staples and a good size parking lot.

Staples
43313 Woodward Ave.
Bloomfield Hills, MI 48302

LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE MEETING UP SO I KNOW WHO TO EXPECT!

06mistreSS 08-15-2012 06:53 AM

Anyone? This meeting up at Woodward looks like it's going to be a bust. There's only a few days left and I haven't got any feedback for anyone that is coming for sure. I am still going no matter what and will be at the meeting spot first thing in the morning in case anyone shows up. Would be nice to see a few of you there. I plan on being there and cruising all day.

For you guys coming later, should we do an additional meeting at a later time then, say 4pm? Hope that works as a first stop for you Paul. If we want to do that, lets meet at the Staples' parking lot at Woodward and Square Lake. If anyone comes across me out cruising or wherever just holler. Like I said, I'll keep my eyes open for you guys. Others are welcome, the more the better.

gasman 08-16-2012 11:11 PM

The Kroger one, yes. Staples was fine. I was caught up in Northbound traffic south of Birmingham on my way to Staples for 4pm. I think I ended up getting there around 6pm so sorry if anyone was waiting for me. What does your car look like? Saw some other Montes but didn't recognize anyone.

Murray137 08-19-2012 09:02 PM

took my monte out to the bricks didnt have the time to run down to woodward. lots of nice cars at the bricks.

I think I may have seen you then. I remember seeing a Dale Jr. Monte somewhere along Woodward at one point. Do the Grand Prix guys do that every Friday night? That may be worth checking out. I'd be interested in that.

By the way, pics I took from this year's Cruise are here: https://montecarloforum.com/forum/si...rd-pics-38393/

gasman 08-20-2012 06:16 PM

i'll check and find out.. my teacher in school his daughters boyfriend has a turbo grand prix and i gave him my phone number so we can link up. my teach was the one who told me where they are. on woodward north of 13 mile right where it splits at.
