1st Carshow since I got all of my repairs done (photos)
So I finally got the Monte Carlo repairs finished and was able to make it to the first Carshow for several months being off the circuit haha.
Then during the awards it rained and rained hard I brought my umbrella just for that reason. I stayed fairly dry. They stopped the award announcements because of the raining. Then they picked them up again after a 20 minute break. When they got to my class it was no award announced for me. So I packed up the little bit I had out yet and went home hour and 15 minute drive and it was dry coming home. There are a few of us that will converse about the results of the events we attend. So this buddy of mine says you are on the winners list posted on FB I said; but they never called my name?!. So I got a message yesterday that I would be receiving the award. Probably in the mail. Some places wouldn't bother with that? So that is cool. Anyway here are some of the photo's from the event. No other Monte's were at the show! There was a Pontiac 2+2 Aero coupe there. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...76425a3241.jpg My display https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...5d3f2297b6.jpg Can you see the 3 car on the antenna https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...726324344d.jpg Back side https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...f8437aae01.jpg Drivers side https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...b322310590.jpg Pontiac 2+2 https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...18286d2b39.jpg 64 impala https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...0509d4c691.jpg 64 Galaxy https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...12e56a68a2.jpg Vette https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...0e1eb989c3.jpg 55 Belair https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...bcc9cd2877.jpg 59 El Camino Rare 72 EL ko https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...8ead73f341.jpg 72 SS https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...abfa3d9a3f.jpg 67 GTO https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...8b986f6940.jpg Named Elvira mid 60s Chevy pickup https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...3d25ac1669.jpg 1960 Buick convertible https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...012b98c2e4.jpg Mercury Turnpike with continental kit convertible https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...b7415cce2e.jpg 1958 Olds 98 Convertible probably weighs as much as to Monte Carlos https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...057eb99ef5.jpg 57 Belair https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...f0123b4971.jpg Elvira https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...59c5479af3.jpg Elvira https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...b597d0b8a0.jpg 63 Impala SS |

I cant imagine parallel parking that thing! Youve got the space of a whole compact car sitting behind the back seats, lol.

In 1967 I took my driver's license test in Salinas, California. My Dad had a 64 Buick Electra that I used to do the parallel parking. We had practiced that for weeks. I did it but it was a challenge.

I took mine in a 92 Chevy Caprice, and I thought that was tough. Id bet your Buick was at least a foot longer!

That car went to Iowa when my folks and I moved back to where we were all born and I went to college there. So my parents were on the way to pick me up at the College school. They were at a light waiting for the green, when a Semi truck rear-ended the Buick at about 35 to 40 mph. I thought they forgot me, it was still driveable but the rear end was mashed in. It did not break the rear glass or make the doors not accessible. It saved my parents. The Car was repaired but Dad didn't like it much any more. He traded it for another Buick Electra maybe a 70 or so. . He always liked them Buick's. Now I would like to find one and Weld some rail road tracks to the sides, then put decals on it that say I drive offensively, then go after all the idiot drivers out there! running the stop signs, driving to fast in a residential area, and not following the rules of the road. Hahaha!! But you can't find them anymore. |
That is awesome to have the repairs done and your Monte road ready again! Congrats on the award but so weird they did not call an award for your class at the event. Kind of them to still reach out!

Now to finish the Hood that I have been working on. :bang head: I am trying to adapt a 1978 z/28 Camaro hood scoop to this Lumina/MC hood. So it has become a little challenging. The studs in the Hood Scoop want to try and escape. :wtf: So I think I have a plan B. I had to cut a hole in the center of the hood for the thing to lay flat, then cut slots under the hood to access the bolts then washer them up. If I can get two solid days to work on it I can probably accomplish a bolt down, then primer sealer and then the final paint. :whistling: But my time to work on it is slim the wife has all these stupid projects she wants done and immediately is not soon enough for her and she keeps taking time away from my hood work and then has the audacity to say that I am not getting anything done. Hahaha But it might look kinda cool when I get it done. Black hood white scoop like the sample from a 6th Gen I included. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...2006ac5bff.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...83eb115047.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...7dfd674f13.jpg |
That hood project looks like it could be something really cool! I want to do a custom hood for my 2004 Monte. I have a couple ideas and one I lean pretty heavy on.
