Does anyone out there know if the factory amps ever good bad?...
My Polk 16x9 deck speakers are starting to sound like they got no ummpf anymore

Yeah I know some people have issues with them. It probably is your amp because I would think if it was your speakers they would get stat-icy but not quiet.

Thank you! Do you know if it is worth replacing worh another OEM one or to get an Aftermarket. If aftermarket is it an easy swap??

Before giving up on the factory amp pull the connectors and spray them (and the receptacles) with some electronic cleaner. My amp began cutting out and cleaning the connectors solved the problem. 2 years and still hasn't missed a note.

If you do need to replace the amp I'd go aftermarket. Keep in mind you will also need to purchase (or make) a bypass harness to take the old amp out of the circuit.

I know when I did mine with an aftermarket amp, I ran all knew wire from the amp to each speaker. That way I knew the wire was good. It wasn't to hard either.
