Default Dead Battery - Stereo?

Hi, Darin here, new Member. Not sure if anybody here puts stereo in cars but my battery went dead right after I put a new stereo yesterday in my 2001 Monte Carlo SS.

My car has the built in amp, I installed https://www.crutchfield.com/S-B9rFAY...020213 Kenwood Excelon DPX592BT double din car stereo. Since it my car came with an amp already in it, I bought the
Amazon Amazon
GMOS-04 harness. I used to work in an electronic shop so I know it was/is hooked up right. speaker wires are hooked up right, yellow to yellow, red to red, black to black, and the blue/white to the blue/white on the stereo. I didn't hook up the steering wheel control, at least not yet, not sure if I'll use it because being handicapped I have a hand control in the car so I really never use those controls anyway?

But after I hooked it up yesterday everything was working fine, the door chimes, onstar, stereo, everything. Came out today and the battery was totally DEAD! I just put a new car battery in about 3 weeks ago and never had a problem with it. So I was wondering if anybody here would have any ideals of why this would happen?

A friend told me the amp might not be shutting off? How would I check that after the car is off? When I open the door the chimes come on, same with the trunk. Should I just pull the stereo and put the factory on back in? I just wanted a stereo with an ipod hookup instead of just the CD player.

The battery is on a charger tonight, so I will be charged up tomorrow.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much! Darin
