Wiring Harness Install- HELP!!

I'm trying to remove the wiring harness in my 78 Monte but I'm not sure the right steps or all of the steps I need to take to get the old harness out and put the new harness in. The new harness is a painless wiring 18 circuit GM keyed harness and seems pretty straight-forward on the directions. The biggest problem I have is around the firewall, getting to all the wiring and exactly what parts I need to remove before I can pull out the old harness without damaging the connectors that I will need for the new harness. I think I might have bitten off more than I can chew but it's too late to turn back now. Any and all comments/tips would be greatly appreciated!!!

I highly recommend marking each and every connector...use a peice of masking tape on each connection. And number it... Use a separate peice of paper to document each connection.and its corresponding number...

Most of all... Take ur time!:)

The wire harness is probably close to one of the first parts of the car in the assembly process so i think to remove it properly you would have to have most of the interior stripped out.
