Subwoofers

Hey I'm new to this forum and was wondering if anyone has any subs they would recommend to me and what's the price range for them. I don't really know much about subwoofers and what to look for in them but I want something that really pounds hard. I was thinking of maybe 2 or 3 12"s or possible 2 15"s, what do you guys think? How about brand names? Does that really matter? Thanks in advance for your help!

I’ve always been partial to Solo Baric Kickers; I will never run anything else. The boxes don’t have to be as big and they last forever… Just my opinion and experience, I’m sure others will also chime in…

I have a newer version now...Damn, actually I have two but the other is being sold or least trying to...

You can get em in a L5 version or L7...
Check em out.

Yes brand names matter when it comes to car audio. I highly recommend sundown audio.

You'll be more than happy with a pair of those.

A pair of JL Audio 12" w3v3 would be nice... Probably the cleanest set of subs ive herd or at least owned. And ive owned almost 10 different subs/configurations if not more.

Diamond Audio d6 are nice as well.

Alpine Type X I like.

Could name lots more but not sure on the price range..

+1 for Sundown Audio

Even their entry level SA-12's are beastly!

JL is nice jaws, but there more of a hybrid, but alot of people prfer that mix, they tend to have a good plend of sq vrs spl. personaly I am parcial to JBL speakers, they have never let me down, but i've never used any of there lower teir models, i always use there high end stuff. i have a w12gti mkII for my sub, and some c608gti mkii's up in my front there an awsome line. but sundown is really nice, you can't go wrong with sundown, i also like the Polk SR, but if you go cheap, i think that MTX low teir models are best bang for buck my self, as far as sq vs buck.

Looking to spend $500 or less for box subs and amp.

Saw this on craigslist. Would this be ok for a monte carlo or is that a dumb question? Dimensions of the box fit in my trunk I'm just wondering about the air displacement with the subs going up into my trunk.

The biggest concern is not going to be if it can fit or the firing orientation, rather if it's got the appropriate amount of airspace for whatever subs you decide to go with.

I was thinking about some JL's or maybe some alpine type r's, 12 inches obviously.

So what's the volume of each of those chambers on that box? Just because the openings are for some 12's doesn't mean it would be the appropriate sized box for the one's you end up getting. Seems to me the seller doesn't even know the volume either as it's not listed in his posting. I'd say pass on that box.
