okay heres a few things i was planning on getting

these for the fronts:

i know mrl was getting the rears, so im excited to hear that review, but has anyone already heard either?

also, whats the stock amp out put on a non bose system for the 04 monte carlo?

ok.... My whole monte is stereo sh*t, so this is what I got for you....
1. Those rear speakers are going to sound amazing, they hit some good highs and if you can, run both sets of speakers through an aftermarket amp.

2. Do you have an aftermarket head unit? If so.... I would say just bypass the factory amp and put an aftermarket 4 channel in to it to run the new speakers.... then you will get the most out of those speakers.

3. One last thing.... if you have a sub or are planning on getting one, take all the bass out of the speakers and just get the highs/lows out of them and let the sub bring the bass! You will get more life out of your speakers and it will sound crisp!

As for your question about the factory amp.... it did not have enough power to run all 4 new Alpine type-s, so you will probably have the same issue if hooking them to factory wires. hope this helps :D

thanks, is the stock amp hooked up to all 4 speakers? i have a type-r sub now, i was going to amp the rears for starts and see how its sounds

Yes it is hooked to all four speakers but wont handle all four aftermarket. If you can, amp the speaker with a diff amp. You will be happier wth the sound in the long run. I attatched a pic of my system... maybe you can you some ideas from that :) The link below is all my stero stuff so far..... the first pic is the latest.

That's good advice but I would keep the front and rear speakers playing highs and mids, and allow the subs to play the deep bass. Maybe that's what you meant but wrote it wrong. Anyway, i find that it sounds better if the front speakers play the highs and the rears the mids. At least that's the way I have it set up and it sounds great.

You fronts link didn't work for me, so I couldn't tell you anything on those. But the rears should be fine, and I'd imagine they'll perform pretty well with an amp.

The factory amp, at least IMO, would be a waste of time to run. I'm not sure of it's actual ratings, but honestly it probably doesn't put out much more than an aftermarket headunit. Look at how tiny the main power wire is lol, it can't be very powerfull. I removed it altogether, and I would suggest you do too.

These two suggestions, that you should take all the bass out of your speakers and have it all come from the subs, and to have front speakers play highs and rears play mids, are the perfect example of the subjective nature of car audio. It would be absolute murder to my ears having to listen to a system based on either of those suggestions, but hey, different strokes for different folks.
