shifter handle swap??
thinking about changing the handle on my 04. I like the look and shape of the one from a 2001 buick regal GS. ive seen where they say it will fit any GM floor shift set up. it does look similar to my shifter but not an exact match thus my concern. if anyone can help me here in the monte family it would be a great help.

Maybe if some one had made a switch they could help? But if you can find a salvage yard close to where you are and see if they have one and check it out I have done that with several items that I wanted to try and saved some cash also. |
That's probably the best advice. I know I've swapped a Bonneville shifter with leather into my impala. I think I tested it and it fit the grand am as well. I looked up the shifter and I'd imagine it would work. Try it an let us know.

Idk about the Buick shifter but I know the shifters from the grand prix also work

99-05 Grand Am, 00-05 Monte, 00-05 Impala, 00+ Bonneville all use the same shift knob and all interchange.
But, that does not mean that is the only shift knob, there are others that interchange (as John mentioned, the Grand Prix knobs interchange). |
well I got the regal shift handle yesterday, it will fit and function. however the end of it is oval shaped vs. the round end on the monte handle. thus the shifter boot will not fit back into place properly. I like how it looked in the car so now I look for a regal shift boot or find means to modify mine to fit correctly. thanks to all who posted and maybe this will help others as well. Billy
