Shifter Button
Occasionally the thumb button of the transmission shifter on my dad's '02 LS falls out. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there an easy fix? It hasn't been too much of a problem, its easy to put back in. I just thought I'd ask.

You could just find a new head for it at a junk yard - it's just a simple pop off the old and lock the new on.

Thanks, I never even thought about simply replacing it. I can probably pick one up soon.

Contact Erik at Morad, im quite sure they would have a replacement for you.

how in the heck do u remove it?

there is a pin at the base of the knob (under the boot)
this is not a monte, but the pin looks exactly like this...pull the pin and the knob will slide off! http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...bp5n-VjdA6&t=1 |
I don't see a Monte one on their eBay store - but here's one that looks identical to ours...

If the button falling out is a problem, I'd look into using a small dab of epoxy and glue it back on.
To my knowledge, the shift knob and shift boot on the '99+ Grand Ams is the same as a 6th gen Monte. |
