Replacing steering wheel controls

Hi guys...I want to replace the radio/cruise switches in my girlfriend's '03 Monte SS...they work fine it's that the wording is peeling off and they look terrible...what's involved with replacing the controls?...can I do it or does the car need to go to the stealership?...TIA!!!

Hardest part is pulling the air bag out.
I think the FWD Tech Guides might have a write up on this.

Simply put there are 3 spots on the back of the wheel. Ignore the torx screws in those spots (those screws only hold the back cover on the steering wheel). Next to the screws is an opening to put a tool, like a flat head screw driver in. Twist the screw driver and it will push back a retaining clip for the air bag (3 total).
Once you can get the air bag out, the buttons are held in with one torx screw per side and a wiring harness. That's it :)

Was hoping to not have to deal with the airbag, but doesn't seem that difficult...thanks for the info guys!
