Replacing cluster lights to LED

Hello everyone,

I've got a couple questions to ask, first, if I unplug the cluster from it's wiring harness will it reset my odometer back to 0? Because I'm wanting to take out my cluster and remove the stock bulbs with Blue LEDs. I've watched many YouTube videos on numerous clusters that you just have to remove the twist and locks and replace them with aftermarket twist and locks to stick the LEDs in. Is this the same case?

I assume you have a 2000+ Monte? If so, the odometer reading stays in the cluster. No issues unplugging it.

Second, the lights in the cluster on these Montes are not the old twist locks. They are a unique long life bulb type and soldier to the circuit board. To swap with LEDs you need to install a resister with each LED and be handy with a soldiering iron. For more info about these specific clusters, google search BBEngineer, he has posted a lot of helpful info about this topic.

Yea, it's a 2006, so it isn't going to be easy considering I don't have a soldering iron, or know how to mess with it

ive been wondering the same thing, could you just take the old bulbs out and run an LED strip in there? or would it be too much?
