rear window heater and radio
 

the previous owner of my 2000 monte ss hooked up a cirius radio which I don't use . It was taken out right after I got it. Now when I turn on the rear window defroster the fm stations go out. :confused:

The antenna and rear defroster are both in the window. I have read about it causing static issues with the fm radio. Most of the posts I have seen say replacing the window is the way to fix.

yeah, probobly a defect in the window when they sealed the traces onto the window, probobly short or open connection. these get by because some people dont like radio like me and never use theirs. but the antena is acualy really good in my area, i was surprised how well it worked.

There is a defroster/antenna module behind the rear interior quarter panels. From what I understand, when that fails loosing radio when the defroster activates is one of the symptoms.

Sadly, I have not had a chance to repair my own defroster problem and the Monte is now winterized. Next year perhaps....
