Pioneer AVIC-D3

Hello all!

It's been a while since I've been on the forum, but I'm back! I have a project in mind from my monte but need your help. I'm looking into purchasing a Pioneer AVIC-D3 for my MC, but with all the Chimes, Steering Controls, and OnStar gizmos running through the stock head unit, I need to know the right way of doing this and a parts list of what I"m going to needand if possible a link of where to get it. I believe this HU will fit perfectly where the stock one is now.

Currently I'm running the stock setup with the exception of the 6x9's in the rear, that I replaced with Kicker 6x9s.

All help is appreciated

So what more am I going to need besides the radio to keep the chimes, warnings, and steering controls?

I have OnStar, but I don't use it, I let the subscription run out on it, because I didn't really see the use for it.

Thanks in advance!

Crutchfield.com makes that really easy to do. They now have a single module that takes care of everything. I just checked them for that head unit in your car, though, and they do not recommend it for the Monte, but they do have lots of other ones to choose from. The adapter to keep factory chimes/warnings and Onstar is $99.99 there.

you can also do the singel din with the flip out screen I have the same kind of stereo in mine.

but i dont have the onstar. and chose not to opt for the wheel controlls to work in the car for the time being. but just get the right plugs from crutchfeild and it will do fine. AND YES THEY FIT AS A FLIP OUT!!
Everyone says they wont. yes they will.
only thing is they will block your vents in the center of the dash IF it is open and your trying to get air in teh car close it for afew min. and then it will be good .

Scoche also supplies an adapter for about the same price.

Whoa, now I'm kinda confused, with the AVIC-D3 double din, work in my car? I'm not looking to do the one that flips out, i don't really like the look. I think it would look great as an indash flat screen. Anyone know?

Yes a double DIN WILL fit and it will look a hundred times better than a flip out IMO. The parts you will need for the radio if you get Metra parts are a 2003 dash kit, GM10 antenna adaptor, and GMOS04 is the harness you need to keep the chimes and everything if you have the amplified system, otherwise it's the OS01. Look online for a PAC adaptor for the steering wheel controls.

im not sure i would say it would look 100 times better but to each thier own. i dont liek the dubbel din at all. think it is the dumbest idea in teh world for a car to have a huge stero face in teh middel of the dash that said. i have the flip out version and it will work and so will the indash one. and All is good for both of them.

But the flip outs dont have a huge face to carry aroudn it is about the size of a cig. lighter to carry aroudn with you . fits in your front pocket rather nicely when you out runnign around if you carry it with you.
