Outside Temperature Reading Not Working
I just recently bought a 2006 monte carlo and no matter what the temperature is outside the car it reads -40 F on the dash. I was wondering where the sensor is for the outside temperature is located so i could see if a wire is loose or what the problem is.

Maybe buy a Haynes repair manual, that might have the answer you're looking for. As I have no clue where the sensor is, maybe one of these other guys do.

I asked a buddy of mine that's a mechanic at Chevy about it and he said that if there is nothing wrong with the system you just need to drive it over 25mph for more than 2 minutes. If you slow down below 25mph then you will have to start over. A freeway would be your best bet, but don't go over 60mph, that will make it reset also. If it still says -40 after you are sure you have met the time and speed criteria, then there is a problem in the system. Make sure the connector at the temp sensor is clean and the terminals are good.

It is located in front of the Radiator IIRC
You should get it fixed fast because I think you won't be able to use the AC with that reading wrong. |
my intrigue has kind of the same problen but mine is just always fluctuating, i'm not sure where it would be on your but on mine it is up by the ac condensor, it's common issues with them when they get dirt or the wires to them berak causing the wrong temp

It could be there, I don't have a book for the 7th Gen in front of me, i just know it is around the radiator.
