LED for DRLs
Since I have HIDs for my lows I don't really need Hi beams. I was thinking about putting some 9005 LED bulbs in the high beam spot for DRLs. Has anyone done this? I am wondering if it will make the "bulb out" alert come on?

Mitch where are u? Lol |
You need to put in a resistor if you use LEDs because the voltage for those is so low the car will think that you have a bulb out.

I plan on getting these:
2 IN-LINE LOAD RESISTORS WITH MOUNTING PLATES 9005 Little more than just buying the resistors but it will be a cleaner install. Anyone think it's a bad idea to get red 9005 LED bulbs for the DRLs? Car 68 SMD LED 9005 HB3 Red Fog Light 12V ,k | eBay My turn signalss are already amber and yellow fogs I figured red DRLS would look cool. Only bad thing I could think of would be cops not liking red DRLs. |
I really like that idea. I think the red bulb would look cool too! But I think the cops would be all over that..

Any update Pure2sin? I'm interested to see the final product if you did this mod.
Thanks! Tyler |
I'm pretty sure it's illegal to have any sort of 'emergency light' facing the front of the car. Colors like red and blue. And since they will be on all the time as DRL's, you won't be able to turn them off easily if you spot a cop.
I like the idea.. a nice cool white color might be your best bet. |
im here!!! lol you cant use red or blue because it is the colors that police and ambulances use so its illegal
|
Darn! What about those fake HID bulbs? Maybe in the pure white? Since the DRLs are only at half power, I don't think it would be that bad.

those work fine, they just dont have good light output
