Leaking water into interior
1 Attachment(s)
So I came out this morning to go get my car inspected and go get tags and found this in my passenger side floorboard...
Attachment 35010 This was the only wet spot on the car. It mostl ikely is not the heater core considering ti was 1) frozen and 2) didn't leak while driving, and I am leaning towards the sun roof. I couldn't find any trace of it leaking out of the sunroof.. .the headliner was dry, the seats were all dry, and everywhere else in the car was dry. The car sits angled towards that right front, and all windows were up. So where is it leaking from? The cowl maybe? |
Unfortunately, I can't see the pic from work, but I think I understand what's going on based on your description. Do yourself a favor, get the $4 fix. Below is the link Chibi sent out a long time ago. I got this for my Monte to put in as a "preventative" since some many w-bodies were having issues. The week I picked it up, I too began having that water leak problem. Took about 10 minutes to install. I then put the same fix on my wife's Impala before it had a chance to start any problems.
And it really was like $4 from the dealership for the part! :) https://montecarloforum.com/forum/si...lem-fix-26663/ |
Thanks. I posted on the MCF Facebook page and Justin gave me the link. Hendrick Chevorlet in Durham has one in stock, I am about to try to run down there and pcik one up and install it this afternoon since we're calling for rain tongiht into midday tomorrow. Nice fun trip to Durham!! Woo hoo!

In mine, the water was due to my A/C drain line being blocked. Even when I wasn't using the A/C I'd get leaks. So if the cowl fix doesn't work, something else to look at.

Looks like you have some great information here
You have to trim the piece a little to install it, but I'm sure you have all the tools needed haha |
Do I need to cut it with side cutters, pipe cutters, recipricoating saw, air cut off saw, an air chisel, a band saw, a skill saw, or would a pair of scissors suffice? LoL
|
I used a dremel with small cutting disc :p

The issue is resolved now. I got the piece from Hendrick Automall in Durham and put it in this afternoon... hopefully that does the trick.
The old "seal" was laying on top of the cabin air filter. If it wasn't the whole problem, then it was definitely part of it. If I'm to be honest, this car is starting to wear on me. I've had it for 5 years and 9 months.... I've had to replace valve cover gaskets, the water pump, the coolant elbows (twice), the wheel hubs, and now this.... and if that wasn't bad enough, the turn signal flasher is starting to go bad, and the button on the drivers side to let the passenger window up and down isn't acting right. I've also repainted it. Those 2011+ Mustangs are starting to look more and more tempting.... |
Let's be honest, all cars have wear and tear, and if those are your gripes after almost 6 years of owning it... that's really damn good.
|
That's all inside the last year though.... outside that, a/c and brakes....
She turned 134,000 miles today.... I was hoping to run it to 200,000... but at this rate, it won't make it... |
