Installng a new head unit

Hello everyone. I bought my mom a pioneer deck for her birthday and I have been reading you can't install a deck without a additional harness. She has an 04 bottom of the line deck just a cassette player no steering controls. And I don't think she even has factory amp. Where would that be? She doesn't have on star either. Any advice can help.

Correct, you need an interface harness. If she has an amp, it would be under the rear deck in between the 6x9's.
