installing an Auxillary port?

is this possible without having to get a whole new radio?

i think that's it, i think crutchfield and sonicelectronix have them also, i post them in another link a while ago but can't find it

I seem to remember a while back, someone mentioned a GM harness that plugged into the factory amplifier. But it required a fair bit of wiring work also.

Anyone remember the one I'm thinking of?

Your going to have to deal with a cord either way of course, I would check into things with chevy and see if they can tell you whats on the back side, maybe something to wire into there.
A buddy got his hooked up to the back side of his, but that was also an aftermarket radio

I seen a "Hack" a while back that required opening up the radio and soldering wires for a jack right to the tape head unit. I have looked for the link and can't find it. It was on another car fourm so if anyone knows it post it up. and I'll keep looking.

I just use a tape deck adapter. It has surprisingly good quality. Do you not have a tape deck?

mstrmysterious63 06-30-2011 02:06 PM

i do have a tapedeck. i got one of those adapters that go in the tape player, but it didnt sound good. idk if it was just a cheap crappy one, or if my tape player just sucks.

im okay with a cord. lol. i wonder how it would work with me not having an aux button

i was going to say i could just disconnect the tape player and connect an aux port in its place... maybe just have the jack come through the tape deck opening. that way, when i press the 'tape' button, it would turn the radio to aux... but i think it doesnt even switch over to tape unless theres actually a tape in the player. it just goes to CD.

IM SO CONFUSED AND IN THE DARK ABOUT THIS!!!

This might help.Connect an MP3 player to a tape player
it's not the one i was looking for but similar. You'll just have to pull the stereo and take it apart on your own. (If you know how)
somewhere on this vast internet there is a car stereo specific how to but I can't find it.

A local radio shop just suggested this to me. The concept seems like it should have all the benefits of the aux port without the distortion created by the FM modulation. Has anyone actually tried this? If so, how was it?

I used a USA Spec gm Pa-11 for my 04 Monte. It was very simple to install, and it allows you to connect ipod and aux input. Got it on ebay for like 50 bucks about a year ago, well worth it
