info- Pioneer AVH-P2300dvd in a 2006 Monte

I was looking into the pioneer 2300 dvd, i was wondering if anyone installed a 2300 or somthing similar in a 06 monte. im need some info, i heard it was a challenge to install due to the parking break. im also not so sure of the factory harness in the 06 montes. any info would help

Are you talking about the parking brake to get the video to play? You can usually wire that to a ground or a constant power (depends on the unit)

Also you will more than likely need to dremel a small plastic bracket out that will be behind the headunit for all the wiring to fit.

Ive herd from other pioneer users that the parking break to ground wire trick doesnt work, it has to be done some other way. But I dont know what that is. someone on here should get you up and running though

the parking break? you must be talking about the video bypass. yeah thats an easy bypass with the AVH series, just need a relay. a 2300 is an easy fit, might have to cut out the back plate with some tin snips or sheers. idk my backplate has been gone quite some time so idk what fits in front of it and doesn't but it's not a big deal, just plastic in the way.

i have a pioneer avic z130 my self, and its the most powerfull and largest double din from pioneer, with perifials like the HD radio, so if i can squeeze that you'll be fine.

far as the bypass, just youtube up 2300 avh video bypass, or 4200 video bypass if they didnt bother remaking a video for the 2300, they are gonna be the same thing. because all of the avh's are designed pretty much the same.

sweet, im also trying to find a good harness to go along with the new deck. but, theres alot out there. im looking for somthing that will keep most of my chimes, and
steering wheel controls. sucks if those have to go. whats everyones opionion on the PAC C2R-GM29.

We had this problem grounding it at work - I work at Best Buy. Never did get the video to work for the display if I recall correctly. :/

Honestly i think the relay is the only way cuz i tried to hook it with the parking brake & it would nvr work,

& walkingonabullet ima be installing one of those radios in a silverado looks to be one sweet unit

I have a 4300 in my Monte. I bought the video bypass relay on ebay for like $10. All you have to do is hook 3 wires up and you have video while driving. I agree on the plastic piece being removed. I dremeled mine out.

I have the Pioneer AVH-4300DVD in both my vehicles and love them!! They are non expensive compared to others.

i have the avh 3200 in my monte and i didnt buy a relay all i did was get a toggle switch that has two wires coming off it run one of them to the parking break wire (which mine was green) and run the other one to ground (mine is connected to my deck ground). Then all i have to do is flip the switch to on and i can watch a movie whenever i want hope this helps

By any chance do you have pics of how its wired or a step by step. I just got the same unit amd i will be installing it tomorrw.

Found a way to make this work. Install a toggle switch on the parking brake wire and ground the other side of the switch. You have to toggle it twice IIRC to get the video to display.
