How to replace lights behind climate control/cluster
So, I talked to the guy at BBengineer but since my monte is my mode of transportation right now I can't really ship out my cluster and my climate control to him.
Does anyone know how to change the lights in the climate control / cluster? |
take it out, crack it open, using a soldering gun heat up the connector until it's loose enough to take the bulb off, then using the same solder that's already there put in the new LED.
Or you could buy a climate cluster for like $30 from a junk yard and send it out. |
to get to the cluster,
1. open glove box 2. on left side is one screw 7mm 3. kick panel by pedals on drivers side ---unlatch this panel and let hang 4. 2 7mm screws on edge of knee panel need to be removed. 5. open fuse box -- 1 7mm screw on right side of fuse box 6. small flat tip screw driver. on ignition bezel (thing with off, acl, and on, its hard plastic) upper left edge pry there and it will pop off easy. --------this part get complicated------------ 7. disconnect trunk release, the clip is on the back side 8. remove knee panel 9. put steering wheel in down position 10. carefully pull on dash to remove about 10 clips 11. when its loose reach behind hazard lights and disconnect 12. engage parking brake 13. insert key and place shifter in 1st gear 14. carefully remove dash completely 15. 2 7mm screws remove the climate control cluster 16. follow baba's idea |
Ok, and after I put them in I thought I had to put resistors in? I talked to BBengineer and he said I also had to install resistors and "do other tweaks"
