Help with ipod connection?

Hi, I have a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo SS with the stock radio. I was wondering how i could connect my iPod to the car stereo to get the best quality possible. The Fm transmitters quality is too bad in my opinion, and i don't want to lose the feature of the steering wheel controls. Thank you, any help is appreciated.

i know bestbuy has a service that does this, but i'm honestly not a fan of their car audio work. check these out from crutchfield.

Peripheral iPod® GM Interface Kit Use your iPod in select General Motors vehicles — kit includes docking and vehicle-specific cables at Crutchfield.com

Scosche IPFMRDS Play and charge your iPodŽ through any car stereo at Crutchfield.com

hope this helps, you may be able to find some cheaper on ebay, just make sure they're compatible for your car and also have a warranty, you don't want to stick with something that won't work for your vehicle

If you do want a new head unit and keep steering wheel controls you can...

Amazon.com: PAC SWI-JACK Steering Wheel Control Module Designed for Clarion, Kenwood, Alpine, JVC and Blaupunkt: Automotive

I use the iSimple gateway.

The iSimple GateWay - Advanced Car Integration Kit for the iPod and iPhone

Only got it because it was on ebay for half of retail.
Works better than a FM modulator and better than the aux jack. It has a few quirks but fills the bill for audio input, charging and controlled by the steering wheel (and head unit) buttons

I have USA SPEC PA15-GM. If you have the XM box in your car you can hook it up directly to that (with an optional wiring harness) and you won't have to pull the radio apart. It also works with the steering wheel buttons.

I didn't know all these were out there. I thought you just had to use that old cassette tape adapter.

If my cars had tape decks, I would be using the cassette adaptor.
