harness with built in re-routing for alarm sounds
 

I picked up a new harness with my new alpine deck since i went to cruchfield. i got the better harness that did full onstar, beeper rewiring so their isn't a box with a speaker it just re routs it.


my question is - with out the stock amp, will wiring the driver side stock wires to my speaker will yeild any result or would io just be kind of pissing in the wind with out that amp hooked up? i ask because my sub box is to lareg and i can not get under that deck, it has like 2 -3 inches clearence tops, and it mounts 6 inches down nearly with the bracket.

uhm nobody? come on i figuired one of the techy guys would of been on this :\ i really dont know how it's wired up if i'l;l need to splice it or what.

If you ran wires directly from the back of your deck to the corresponding speakers it is essentially like bypassing the factory amp.

This way you could remove the factory amp so you have the clearance needed.

run it off the harness to the amp you mean? it would depend how the harness wired it, it could already be paralell if they used the same harness for premium and none premium cars.

Remove factory amp
Unhook factory wiring to your door/rear deck speakers
From the head unit's harness run wires for the speakers^

My only concern is I have not done this ^ (I had no clearance issues with my subbox)

If I remember correctly if you go this route you may need to replace the factory speakers. Maybe someone else can confirm or deny this.

You could try testing it with one speaker 1st, maybe unhook the amp, wire up the drivers side front speaker and plug the deck back in and see if you get any sound; if you do then do it for the rest.

Another option would be to consider a different sub-box.

oh don't worry the speakers are far from facotry :rotfl: I accualy do this quite often ive just never used this harness. what you say is a mighty fine idea though...why didn't I realise this? :nono:

this sub box is a custom box i built my self, very very tough. double layer 3\4" MDF with bracing. no gasget bracket just a simple hole with some caulk. if i throw it in a lake my guess would be it'd float. its a beastly box im quite proud of :D it houses an aluma pro m16 16" subwoofer. stupid rare sub, not the kinda sub you just say "eh...i'll just use another sub" lol found it on craigslist for 200$... its at the very least 600$ and ive been offered double in cash and trade on it. :D I might redo the box in the future, because after some more research i found it is possible to use a 3.0-3.2CF box as aposed to the 4.1 CF box i built. whitch would make it quite a bit smaller.
