General Lighting issues.

Ok...as a few of you may know..I've been having a few issues with my lights.

Here's a run-down:

My gauge lights do NOT work. At all. won't come on when I turn my lights on manually, or when they are automatically turned on.

My radio lights, and my odometer lights seem to be connected to each other. I say this, because they both only work intermittently. But, when they work, they both work...These lights don't go completely out, and still shine ever-so-faintly when they're 'not working' Dimmer switch does nothing to change the brightness. And, these lights are known to cut out or pop on mid-drive.

I'm pretty sure I've pinpointed the problem with these first 2 problems. But, there in-lies another problem...

Here is a shot of the back of my headlight switch.

^I don't know how well you can see it. But, the top left-hand plug is shorted out. Don't know why, or how..but it is. Also, if you look up a bit..You'll notice that the dimmer portion of the switch is also completely burnt out...Weird, no?

But, that doesn't appear to be the end of it..

Now...I'm wondering if splicing a new wiring harness in with a new switch will solve these problems. I'm fairly confident that I'll have lights afterward...I'm just not very sure that it won't happen again. Any ideas as to why this happened?

Secondly, Since I would need a new wiring harness anyway, I'm thinking of temporarily splicing the burnt out wire(I assume that's the one for the gauge lights) into a switched power lead. Just so I have some sort of guage lighting and can actually see my speed. I don't see any problems in doing so....Do you?

On To The Next One...

My M.F.S.

Or, at least, I hope not..lol. When driving at night, occasionally, my headlights will go out. parking lights stay on. just my headlights go out. Now, I think this is connected to a problem I'm having turning my high beams on.

When I pull the switch back toward me to engage the high's, the switch will sometimes not *click*. The high's still come one. When I go to *click* them back again to disengage them, I get nothing. Once or twice in a row, then I'll get the *click*, but they still won't switch, then once more, and they switch down to the low's.

Now, I'm not positive if the headlights only go out with the high beams on, but I DO know that when they go out, all I have to do is pull back on the MFS and they pop back on. This one had got me stumped.

I'd like to know if the two switches are connected, and if so, is the actual headllight switch causing all these problems?

What's the deal? :wtf:
