Fuse box corrosion
 

Ok so I need some help with this... The posts on my fuse box are rusted and corroded :/ if I were to find a fuse box in much better shape at the U-pull, how hard would it be to replace? I've never really paid attention on how it's wired up and such. Yea I could easily clean up the posts but when I try and loosen the bottom nut, the entire post turns inside the plastic piece of the fuse box lol if I try hard enough it'll just break off. That's why I wanna go ahead and just get another box that's not as bad. Don't mind the ****ty power wire on the left :o its coming out soon haha

If all you are worried about are this posted, pull the nuts off, get new ones (perhaps stainless, don't know if that causes an issue or not) and wire brush the posts.

As for removing, I think there is a couple fat wiring harnesses that hold that guy in and the 2 nuts at the top. But I've never removed one.

Oh and I also picked up some L67 coils for $15, Jason ;)
Got em tested at auto zone so I threw them on the car, going to find out tomorrow if I can feel a difference lol I was going to paint them red but ehh... My engine bay is a mess anyways :rotfl::o

Nice to see it was a relatively quick fix for you. Snag buy on the L67 coils, you stole them at that price...

First, those posts on your fuse panel look great! I assume you cleaned them up???

And awesome score on the coils!! Don't look for a night and day change. It's slight and it's mostly an improved throttle response. To be honest, I notice little change (some may call it the placebo effect), but I will tell ya, when I went to sell my '94 3100 powered Grand Am and put the original coils back on, I HATED it!! Romping to get on to the freeway actually felt "different" and not in a good way (so in the case of the coils, I noticed it more when I took them away from a car).

But, you fit my rule, do it for $30 or less, way to go Frank!!

I cleaned the posts up, ran a new positive wire from the bottom post to the battery, fixed the green crank wire as it was torn a little at the ring terminal... So I cut it off and just left the wire bare under the nut... I got the 2 nuts from another monte at the yard as they were really clean :) as you can probably tell Im also running a power wire from my alternator to the top post. That I got a while back along with a voltage booster from zzp. It did help alot with rear defroster and such lol
The reason I wanted to replace the posts was because my monte would sometimes have a hard time cranking.. I'm guessing it was the green wire that was torn but after all I did it nows starts right up! :)

As for the coils, I spotted them and figured why not? so I got them for $15 which is a pretty good deal as they're also in much better shape than my original ones :thumbsup: I didn't feel much difference but for $15 Im not complaining lol
