I need some help cause for some reason my earlierpost didnt show up here so i have been having problems with the factory amp.....it dosent do it all the time but today it acted like it didnt want to come back on but finally did.....it cuts out and i get static then it start to fade from driver speaker to passenger speaker and back without touching anything....can some one post what the wires are for and whats the best way to go about this..I WAS THINKING TO JUST WIRE IT UP WITHOUT THIS AMP BUT SOME ONE SAID THAT THE RADIO HAS NO OUTPUT LIKE THE AMP WAS THE SOURCE OF SOUND.....IN OTHER WORDS FACTORY HEADUNIT IS NO LIKE AN AFTERMARKET HEADUNIT AND IT DOSENT HAVE ANY WATTAGE TO IT...I THOUGHT THAT I HAVE READ DIFFERENT ON HERE SO PLEASEEE LET ME KNOW WHAT I SHOULD DO JUST GO TO JUNK YARD ANDNFIND AN AMP or should i just go ahead and order one from someone.......can someone also tellme what amps will fit my car i have a 2000 monte carlo ss without boss so please help me i do have the cd player HU:mad:

What is a "factory amp"?

its an amp mounted in the trunk under you speakers that came from factory with it....

The amp that powers the factory speakers, not all Montes came with them.

As for the factory amp, I would check the wiring and make sure it is all good for starters

Have you checked the stereo wires also?

The radio ground is within that harness for the amp somewhere, also there's one in the radio harness also.

Does the stereo go out when the speakers go out?

no stereo keep working just volume goes out

thanks for all your help guys went to the yard and found an amp and this morning before i left had to istall couldnt go 45 minute drive without....thanks again guys
