Erratic behavior of Turn Signals after rain
 

I just finished going through the forum to get help with my water leakage problem and am hoping that will also solve this issue. BUT, in case it doesn't, has anyone had problems with the turn signals freaking out after it rains. They make this crazy noise and they flash too quickly and faintly. I have been cussed out for not using them. Obviously they are "shorting out" in a manner of speaking. Can this possibly start a fire? I'm thinking yes but I am not an expert.

Oil leakage onto the manifold from adding oil once caused a fire. That was right before I got the recall notice on the plug wire routing. I don't particularly care for GM's "fix" for that. I liked it better before. I don't see how re-routing the plug wires is going to prevent fires if you get oil on the manifold and the car is hot. If that happens it doesn't matter how they are routed, if the flames get big enough the wires are still going to burn.

Any help is greatly appreciated and feel free to gripe if you have the same prob. I feel your pain! :confused:

Mine started acting funny when it rains, right after I had the BCM replaced. Mine will light up faintly, not blink and make a nasty little buzz. The only thing that usually fixes it it either letting the car dry out or hitting the emergency flasher button... Imma gonna be eyeballing this thread for answers...

If it only happens when/after it rains, then sounds like you have water getting into an electrical connection associated with your blinkers. Check out headlight / taillight housings first. Could also be water entering the passenger compartment under the dash (a variety of potential causes).

If you find the location of the leak but can't ID the source / solution, check back here with more info. Someone will likely have an idea for you.
