Dub Car Show Trunk Display

Ok everyone so I just registered for the DUB car show in phoenix on August 1st. Im looking at making a trunk display. What do you all think I have the option to get embroidery done but the lady cant do it any bigger than 12" x 8.5" or I have family friends that do screen printing that can do a screen print and I think we talked about doing an 18" or even bigger screen print. Which do you think would look better. I have a couple design ideas in mind but not 100% sure yet. To me it seems like a screen print wouldn't look good but I could be wrong. The embroidery just seems like it might be too small. Just need everyones opinion on this. Thanks.

Yeah I saw that but Its not worth the amount of money they want. They sent me a quote of over $500

I still think you can get the price down from him, mine was $350 excluding the light kit and shipping. Anyway, i think screen printing will be a better option for what you're making.

I tried to talk him down a bit an no go. He said I could get a different design and it would be cheaper. If I just did "Intimidator SS" it would be just under $500. Maybe he just recently raised the price. I don't doubt he does good work. But I cant see paying $500-$600 if I don't do carshows like every weekend. At least not at this time. Maybe if my sign on bonus I get from my company merging is that much then I will. But Id rather get the Ram Air Hood before I do that.

Maybe you could find a section of light weight foam and apply that Carbon Fiber material to it. available on ebay. its good and easy to work with.
Then have a sign shop make the decal you want full size and mount it to Matt board from Hobby Lobby Then cut it out and mount it to the Foam with Velcro strips. Then mount he pad section to the underside of the Trunk lid.
So if you had a Bowtie, an Intimidator, and an SS. and put them on in Layers it would have depth and dimension.

I have a piece of Styrofoam that is in the same shape as the trunk and fits perfectly I was going to use several magnets glued to the underside to get it to stick. My original plan was to get fabric from Walmart and that the designs put on there then wrap it around the Styrofoam and glue the magnets so it sticks. I would love to do decals though

I have attached a link to the fabric on ebay I have used this stuff before. I used a spray adhesive to apply it to the backing.
I have also had a print shop enlarge the design I wanted to use and then cut it out and applied it to matt board or foam board. the foam board that you can get from Hobby Lobby is thin and light. It is also paintable so you can duplicate most any designs.

The $500.00 price tag is just a bit to much as far as I am concerned. You can try a sign shop too they will do a nice Graphix job and there are enough of them that it keeps them competitive.
