Double Din w/ OnStar
Ok I have an 01' SS Monte, The factory head unit is slowly dying, more and more things and going wrong with it.
Long story short, I decided that I want a nice double din touch screen. Problem #1: I know that I would have to get a $100 piece to keep my OnStar, but how will things like the Engine light be reset? Problem #2: I'm completely confused if a double din would go in straight up, or will there be some cutting. Problem #3: I'm lost on what Double din I should get, and what to look out for. Thanks forum, all comments and advice are greatly appreciated |

The engine light is not one you can reset without a reader so, even with ur stock deck, but things like tire pressure, change oil, etc, those can be reset manually with very simple actions to do.
To get ur double din in there could be a little cutting needed, most commonly directly behind the stereo. Sometimes u need to cut a section out to allow the deck to slide in all the way. Its very eady to do though, dont let that scare you away. As far as what deck to get, I dunno man thats dependant on ur budget, needs and preferences as far as looks. Figure out how much u want to spend first and then we can make some better suggestions for you. |
Sorry guys, I meant oil light

usually I just grab whats back there and push and pull till it snaps, or get a small airsaw or a hammer and chisel. GM uses cheap easy to snap plastic
If your not doing navi, look at the Pioneer 2300 and 3300, great decks |
