Current Setup & Upgrading to Kicker

What I have NOW:

(1) 12" MTX 4500 Subwoofer in a large vented Thunder box - http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products...hunder4500.cfm
(1) Road Thunder Pro-202 Amplifier - http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products...ers/rtp202.cfm
(6) Stock Speakers
(1) Stock Amplifier
(1) Stock Deck

I have the amp switched from a 2-channel to a Mono by bridging the positive terminal on channel 1 with the red and the negative on channel 2 with the black. I have all of this hooked up to the stock deck through an output converter. I have had this setup for 3 years now and it's been great for me in terms of durability and quality of sound, love MTX.

What I WANT:

Anyways, I am working at Best Buy and have an accommodation through Kicker with an extreme discount. I am wondering what subwoofer(s) to go with to replace this setup so that it's a bit louder and with better quality. I really don't want it to be ear-popping loud or any "flexing." Just simply better, newer and of course good subs.

So
I am curious whether to go with a L7, SOLO Classic or COMPVT setup. I don't know how loud these are going to be but obviously it will depend on size, etc. The L7's are really loud from what I read and the SOLO's and COMPVT's are but not as extreme. I need some suggestions...

(2) COMPVR 12" or (1) COMPVR 15" or (1) L7 12"....etc...

Also I am looking to get speakers but can't decide if coaxial speakers or components. (I really don't want to mount tweeters somewhere and I have never installed crossovers.) I have installed speakers before but never hooked them up to an amplifier. I also want to get a full in-dash deck so that it fills the whole space without looking cheap. What are some suggestions for this also? The speakers will obviously be all kicker, but the deck would have to be something else...

Any input is great guys, again I don't want ear-popping loud and need some suggestions. Thanks!

I would go with a single kicker L7 10" it is a great sub for what your looking for put in into a vented sub box like 2.25 cubic feet
and I will tell you that go component speakers where ever possible your doors are already set up for that with very little modding and the crossover is super easy to set up /install. Components sound so much cleaner than a coaxial
thats my 2 cents
good luck and keep us in the loop

I can get an L7 10" in a loaded enclosure dirt cheap. (600 RMS) Would you suggest a Mono 500 or 1000 watt amp for it? Would I need a capacitor or anything else besides what I already have? As for the components, I'm still considering all options there...

I would also say go with the L7. In my opinion its better to be to loud and have the option to throttle it back then to be to quiet and not be able to go any louder. I would also suggest going with components over coaxial speakers. I ran coax clarions in my 2000 Monte and they sounded great but not compared to the sound I am getting out of my new JBL components in my 2006 Monte. I hear a lot more detail of the music than I did before.

Although this seems logical, but its not always true. Subs when underpowered can sound muffled, week, or even distorted. Lets take a 1000rms sub.. its best sound range might be 500 to 1100RMS. So if you turn in down lower it wont always get what is needed for it to sound the way its ment.

But with kicker they are more ment to be played loud then lower for sound quality.. IMO I was never a fan of kicker, I tried 2 12" CompVR and got rid of them the next day and went back to my JLs... Although Now I have an RE Audio MT 15" thats an all out SPL sub and its the best one I ever had, including my JL 13.5 w7.

But Anyway from what I here around.. Id say L7 or L5 10s or 12s

I don't mean to under power the sub. Just that there is the option of turning down gains and levels on the deck if necessary.
