Have you seen the factory speaker niche, don't think a 6x9 would fit in there with out some modding. I run 6.5's with separate tweeter just like factory set up.

Yeah that was what I was thinking. A 6x9 is a big speaker for such a small spot.

thats what i did in mines, i upgraded to the 6.5s, and they fit right on in

I think the fronts are supposed to be 6.5 but I have 5.25 because they came from my old car and they work fine too.

My 97 had 5.25", swapped to 6x9s no issue

So are you saying you put 6x9's in a 6th gen's door speaker pods with no mods to the pod?

I took out the pods entirely and mounted them to the door panel itself
