Audio Upgrade
 

I'm a complete N00B with audio. I want to upgrade my stock system (which I think is pretty good already) to a bit, louder, cleaner, and crisper sound. But I have no clue on where to begin. I want an average sound system I guess, but not paying anything outrageous. Maybe $100-150?...Stock headunit, just replacing the speakers, amp, and woofers. So, any place where I can learn about speakers, audio and the like would be greatful. Lol I honestly have no idea. But I want to learn! :D...I do know about the "Big 3 Upgrade" though.

you can start by going to audiosavings.com and sonicelectronix.com they have good deals and have free shipping. basically anything is better then the stock setup.. i have alpine type S component speakers and love them. they are mid level speakers. but they are very krisp and clear even without a amp they get pretty loud. with a amp they are atleast 2x as loud. but with subs and a new amp id start looking at craigslist if your on a budget. amps and subs get pretty expensive. but you can get good deals on there just watch for blown subs and amps. again i have alpine everything and love it all. its very clear and very loud. but kenwood and kicker are other great brands. there are more great brands but i dont have experience with those. and the big 3 you shouldn't have to worry about until you are running multiple amps and running alot more power. but if your lights start dimming then of course give that a go. there are some other people on here with WAY WAY WAY more car audio experience then me but thats just my 2 cents! :). any other questions just ask. :thumbsup:

As far as learning goes, google it and jump around different audio sites, read a lot, and ask questions. There's all kinds of audio forums and things like that out there to browse, and you can learn an insane amount from these. That's where I learned most of what I know, I can't say I know a lot, but I know more than nearly all of my friends.

When buying things, I'm with Boxman if you're looking to go that cheap. You'd be lucky to replace all your speakers with top quality for that much. If you're looking at slightly better doors and rear deck, a good small (400W) amp, and subs you're definitely looking higher than that...
