amp? or no amp?
Ok now i am running a pretty hard hitting set up Two audiobahn 12's a matching amp wired down to 1 ohm pushing out 1300 watts from the stock deck. Now i am very happy on how it hits, but one down side is that i need more highs, but i can live with it cuz i love the bass, now i have everthing i need to install my new deck a rockford fosgate Ravdvd1 except i was waiting to get some smaller amps for the rear and door speakers and also thinking of replacing them too,BUT i really want to istall and was wondering if i should wait because i will lose funtion of the stock amp rite? Is anybody here running thier mids and highs without an amp and how does it sound?and yes i already have that long a@$ harness i bought for $60
for the longest time i had my stock system running the mids and higs and then my subs off of a hi/lo box.
sounded ok but after installing a aftermarket head unit and a better amp is sounds clear and loud and i have pleantey of higs and lows.
So i would wit if you want to replace all of it any way. or at least till you have a amp that will push the fronts and rears in the car, and then have the other amp pushing your subs.
to run those stock speakers you dont need a huge amp to get good sound out of them and have your subs to.
also do a serch on the amp by pass mod here. it is suposed to help give more volume etc. I have neve tired it so i dont know. but if that is the case might give you the higs and mids your looking for.

I just installeda aftermarket head unit, as far as I canunderstand it the stock amp is stillin use, I didnt disconnect or removethe amp. I haveto say that I had to turn down the highs and mids on the HU becausethey were so loud. I have apair of audiobahn 12's and I am planning on gettin a new pair soon, but after a few days of tuning I am very happy with my setup, other than I neednew subs to get better low end response, the Natural Sound subs I have just cant handle the lowswith the power I am pumpin to them.
