Air Bag Light Help

I have an air bag light that is on in my car and has been since I got it. The car has been hit previously. The problem is that the computer won't communicate with the scan tool for the air bag light to advise what the culprit is.

I am stumped. I know someone put a remote starter in the car at one point and it looks to be a so so install so maybe then clipped a wire? Ideas?

You are going to have to take it to the dealer for them to clear the light/check if there's a problem with the system. There's a method to clear it of the problem is from a surge/not system related. It can be found here:

MAKE SURE that the battery is disconnected before you mess with the SRS. Also, DISCHARGE STATIC ELECTRICITY FROM YOUR BODY BEFORE TOUCHING YELLOW CONNECTORS! Read the instructions a couple of times before doing this and good luck!!

Did they replace the air bag control module along with the bags? They should no to do that but just asking. Alot of newer cars need a trip to the dealer to have the code cleared.

I really don't know much of the history on this car. Its an 04 but only paid 3k for it at an auction. I can see a quite a bit of body work that has been done to the car though.
