Aftermarket CD Player install question
Hey all, I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but I'm still confused about something. I have an '01 SS with the factory amp on the rear deck (non Bose) AND OnStar. I could really care less about the OnStar since it's now obsolete and I've removed the OnStar antenna from the rear window.
Here's my question. Will the normal wiring harnesses that keep all of the door chimes, etc. throw any codes or cause any problems if I don't hook up the OnStar? I'm very picky about having a vehicle without any problems due to my stereo installs. Again, if the OnStar doesn't work, who cares. I'm looking at the Scosche GMLAN2SR kit to do the install. Obviously not going to pay the $110 that Best Buy wants for it, but don't want to order the wrong part online either. Thanks! PurduePete |
Keep your factory
when I had my alpine installed the sound sucked & it's because of the factory amp |
Honestly from all my trials and problems unless you are putting a full system in (Subs, new 6x9s, new door speakers) Its really not worth it cause it will sound like junk. Another thing what I am thinking about doing but don't want to because I have a 12 disc changed hooked up is to (If you want to hook up subs) get a factory integration harness and install that with subs.
PS-I would STRONGLY advise NOT to get the Metra GMOS-04 it is TERRIBLE------I was looking at the PAC harness but have not tried it yet but if I were to get another one that is what I would get take a peak at their website: http://www.pac-audio.com/ |
