Default 8 inch subwoofer

I heard a JL 8''w3 in a high output box...(JL Audio HO108RG-W3v3)... Why is it that it sounds better than some pair of 12s i've heard????

What pair of 12s were they...

a pair of JL 12" w3v3 are the most accurate and cleanest sounding subs on the market so im sure the the 8" isnt to far off.

In theory yes. in my opinion I didnt like how the w6 sounded which is why i decided to buy the w7. but from owning a pair of w3v3 and the w7, yes the w7 is louder but the w3 were better in sound quality and missed a lot less notes. The best part of owning a w7 was the WOWs and Amazement you get at a car show ect... but id rather own the pair of 12" w3 that are hard to beat in a SQL competition.

And the w6s I think sound bad in a sealed box and are not that loud.

Depends on a bunch of factors. In this case though, I would guess it had a lot to do with the enclosures. If the 8" JL was in the JL "high output" box, I would imagine that it's built to the subs specs. The 12s you heard were probably in a Best Buy ported box, which sound terrible.

Well the 8w3v3 sounds perfect for someone who wants just enough boom to where the car doesnt rattle and sound crappy..and it fits nicely without taking up trunk space

We're all entitled to our own opinion so for those who don't know any better, rest assured this is just his opinion. And a laughable one at that!

Well my thing is, unless a human is a certified sound judge and ha heard every single sub on the planet, he cant really say one sub is the best, HOWEVER..the average guy can still say whether or not a sub is of great quality. In saying that, JL is a quality sub.
