2004 LS No interior sounds
 

My baby, my 2004 LS, has no interior sounds--no chimes, no sound through the stereo, etc.

Of course, the head unit works just fine. I replaced the fuse to the aux fuse which controls the amplifier on the passenger side panel--the fuse was clearly blown--but still nothing. What gives?

Why would the fuse be blown AND something else be blown at the same time? Everything about the stereo system is still factory. I even jiggled the wiring to the amplifier in the trunk to see if that was it--nada.

I just got in it one day and there was no sound. It's killing me! LOL

Any insight? Am I going to need to hunt down another amp at a salvage yard?

Welcome to the site. I'm a little confused, Does the radio play music? If so maybe something is just disconnected. Maybe the previous owner had an aftermarket stereo in it and took it out before is was sold.

No, I've owned this car since it was brand new--I've had her 8 years.

No music, no chimes, no nothing. No sound, period. Aux fuse to the amp was blown--I replaced it and it didn't help.

Hello Mellisa, did you figure out what the problem was with your AMP? I am having the same issue on a 2002. I took the amp out, and i ran a jumper wire from the input plug in for a speaker and connected it to the output plug in and I get music, but nothing through the amp.

Are you saying you just bypassed the amp? If it's working without the amp fully connected then it sounds like you have a bad amp.

Aftermarket radio or factory?

Hello, it is a complete factory stereo. I am questioning the amp also, however, I am still confused as to why the "hot" wire to the amp will not light up the test light. When the radio is on, the speaker wires will light up the test light nice and bright, however the orange positive wire to power the amp will lightly flicker the test light, and will not stay constant, if I move the test light it will very faintly flicker the test light.

Howdy, I evidently must have a broken wire somewhere going to the amp. I added a jumper wire into the harness going to the amp and powered the amp from a booster pak and the amp workes fine then. I chanaged the aux fuse on the passenger side fuse box and that did not fix it. There is juice going to the fuse as it lights up my test light.

Does anyone know if there is a spot in the harness that I should try to concentrate on to look for the broken wire?

I ended up pulling my interior trying to trace down a broken wire when my 2000 LS did the same thing. Under the carper beside the rear passanger floorboard is a junction where the harness meets that corrodes and could cause it. My broken wire was further back where the harness runs through the rear seatback frame. I would just pull the interior, it only took me about 3 hours start to finish to pull it all, repair the harness, and put it all back together.
