06 Monte SS Amp Power Wire Install
 

Just wonder if anyone has ran a 0 gauge amp power wire in their 2006 Monte Carlo SS. I got the wire ran throught the firewall but am wonder how I should go about connected it to power. I would like to go directly to the battery but don't want to have to chop off the factory clamp. I was also thinking of going to the post right above the fuse panel that is located right next to the battery but I am not sure if I would be losing power by connecting there. If anyone has any help with this I would greatly appreciate it.

Definately don't connect a 0 gauge to the one above the fuse box--the wires leading to the fuse box from the battery are not very big at all and it'd for one be overkill since you couldn't get the power you'd expect since you're going from like an 8 gauge wire max. to 0 gauge, and for two has a lot of potential to do damage to your electrical system if there's ever a surge.

Thanks for the reply! Do you have a suggestion as to what I could do to get the wire hooked to the battery? I tried one of the dual post Optima red top battery but it didn't work out how i wanted. I was going to mount the battery in backwards and use the side post for the amp wire. The problem was that when i got it put in the negative post was to far under the front bracing and I couldn't tight the clamp and there was not enough clearance. I was trying to find some way to maybe connect under the factor clamp or something that would come off of it to connect too like a big ring with a post coming off to the side. Maybe I could make something like a washer with a bolt attached to it.

This would have been the way I would have gone but I have top post connections. That is kind of why I tried the dual post battery but the terminals are reversed so I tried to mount it backwards. It has not gone the way i had hoped.

I thought about using some of these that you suggested but I really don't want to have to cut off the factory clamp. So far its looking like I may have to do a new clamp.

what i did to keep my stock wiring and still add new posts was i bought a battery with 4 posts, 2 standard screws on the side like the stock location, and 2 top posts. let me see if i can grab a picture quick

sorry all i could muster up, dont think i ever took a picture of both angles so you could see the bottom posts, but they're their.

After looking at the wiring closer I realized that putting in a new clamp wouldn't be so bad. So here is my finished product under the hood. Let me know what you think.
