ZZP Downpipe?

I know this has probably been asking 500 times but I am new. I looked all over for a post and did not see an exact answer. I was looking at the ZZP site at getting a downpipe and was wondering what drop down settings to pick when I go to order it. OR if there is a better option for doing the u-bend delete since I plan on getting a cat back system soon. (Would I be better off with the downpipe with the cat for a better high flow cat.) 02' Monte Carlo 3.8 with stock exhaust so far. THANKS!:)

Since your N/A, I'd get the 2.5 inch bolt in with cat. They come with magnaflow high flow cats so its a pretty good cat. I just installed the 3 inch with cat on our 04 SS Supercharged and its a really good pipe

if you are planning on a cat-back the zzp downpipe will be a better option. the downpipe area is the most restrictive part of the exhaust system. you should get better gas mileage which will let it pay for itself.

you want that.

But be aware that many of us that have the ZZP downpipe with high flow cat that haven't gotten a tune or a PCM from ZZP yet do throw codes.

He has an '02, so there are many options for getting rid of the code if need be.

Ah yes the O2 emulator.

Pure2sin 07-22-2009 03:29 PM

I actually just ordered a PCM from 3800perf I guess we will see how that goes I thought I saw on the 304 stainless option that there was a bung for the O2 sensor so would that still throw a code?

ChibiBlackSheep 07-22-2009 03:31 PM

The code is because the O2 sensor on the car is reading after the cat. When you replace the stock cat for the high-flow the computer thinks something is wrong because the huge restriction is gone.

Even a new O2 sensor doesn't fool the computer.

Well THANKS everyone for the info I guess I will have to do some more looking before I order THANKS for the info!
