Throttle Body
 

Hey guys, I was searching through previous posts, and nobody seemed to be consistent with what to do with the throttle body. Do I replace it with a larger one? Do I add a spacer? Some people said the spacer adds sound, was wondering if that was true. I also am on a limited budget and have already ported and polished my MAF. I have the 3400 engine, was also curious if the throttle body was the same on mine and the 3800.

as far as i've seen the throttle body spacer doesn't do anything, but everybody is going to have a difference answer to that.

usually it starts the biggest argument, on all the vehicles i've seen the benifit from it is so minor that you dont notice it, i had one on my truck and i couldn't tell if it did anything or not.

at my shop we installed a cold air intake and a throttle body spacer on a guys grand prix, he thinks it made a difference and thats the important thing.

TB spacers might help adjust top end HP by increasing intake volume. but like said you can only see the diff if your strapped to a dyno. not a worth while mod IMO. your best place for HP on that engine would be headers, cold air intake (you prob got this) exhaust, then you step into Computer/pcm tuning and internal engine work like P&P heads or lastly go boost!

do they make a tuned pcm for the 3400 series? I only saw one on zzp for the 3800

your further ahead to gett the programmer and do it yourself and that way its the way you like it

dont worry about not knowing how to tune it either, i had no clue and yes its been about a year, but now i know a bunch and got some good tuning on my car already. and yes the tuner costs more, but you get much more. you can maximize for every new mod, scan SES lights, and having the tune talyord to your car makes it that much stronger and safer!

oh... not sure if they have a pcm ready to go for the 3400's i think there must be a site out there.... but again the tuner is your most practical route.
