Stupid Question
Hi everyone I had my 07 SS jacked up the other day and noticed what the catalytic converter looked like and it didn't look like it was stock actually it basically looks like a small glass pack. Like I've said in previous posts I've only owned this car a few months. I looked up what a stock CC looks like and it seems to be different. It could be an aftermarket converter but I'd like to be sure. I'm including a pic.
https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/monteca...835865f6c8.jpg I live in California and we have strict emission laws. Just wanting insight on what I got under there because I'm not quite sure. Thanks. |
Looks stock to me (at least similar to what came on my GP GXP).
take a look at this YouTube video on removing a LS4 downpipe - that looks the same also: |
Ok yeah it does look the same. It had to be smogged when I bought and it passed but people always have a way around that but this makes me more sure I won't have to replace my CC for my smog. Thanks.

Looks good under there. Got my car from California for that very reason.
Something I noticed and it may just be the picture playing tricks on me but it looks like one of them rubber hangers is about to break. I doubt it would affect anything however. Cat looks stock. Seems like factory welds. |
Looks like a stock one to me too. the Welds at each end are the real giveaway.

Ok I may have given some bad info up there ^. It definitely can cause issues having that mount snap. It will put unnecessary tension on the other rubber mounts. I went out and messed around with mine and it was actually stretching the muffler hangers.
