Any tip more than 3" is a waste of money. On a V-6 2.5" is more than enough.
I completely disagree. The primary reason for the tip is for aesthetics, so I don't see how you can say its a waste of money when its clearly what the person who is spending the money thinks looks good. Maybe you don't like the look, and that's fine, but I dont get judging people on wasting money for doing cosmetic upgrades they like since they're not doing it to please you.
One could also argue your setup is a waste. Its not real dual exhaust, so there's no practical benefit to the Y pipe or any kind of tip beyond just the bare single crush bent 2.5" pipe sticking out the back.

I didn't build it, Chevrolet did. As I stated in the above post (obviously you didn't bother to read it), that it does nothing for the performance, but if you want to have a big exhaust tip for fun then have at it. Same rationale these guys in diesel trucks that have 7 inch exhaust tips. Always gives me a chuckle. Not my money. I just posted that so someone THINKING it actually helps knows up front they are a waste of money, and only designed for looks. Clear?

I did read it and I still think its needlessly rude.
Literally no one in the entire thread said or asked anything about performance gains at all. For some reason you go and dig up a decade old thread from the grave (the post prior to yours was literally 10 years ago) to downtalk what they're trying to do (an appearance mod with tips of a size thats obviously not to your liking).
Clearly everyone here is talking about it from the visual perspective, so I still think you're 100% wrong with a blanket statement that its a waste of money in a thread like this. Any appearance mod that someone does to their car to their taste is not a waste of money to them, regardless if you like how it looks or not. They're not doing it to make you happy.

I said nothing about liking or not liking. Many people aren't into performance as I am, and actually believe they gain HP by adding stuff such as that. I was educating them about whether it was needed or not. If they are buying it under the assumption that it is actually going to make a few more HP then I saved them a few bucks. If they are buying it because it looks cool then have at it. At least they know NOW exactly what to expect. Not sure why you are getting your panties in a wad over this. I have repeatedly said the same thing. My $5000 paint job doesn't make my car any faster, but I like the way it looks. I think I comprehend this way more than you do. Let's give it a rest.

Here I have full 3" run of exhaust pipes and 4" tips. Could this be a combo of performance gain and aesthetics? LOL, okay perhaps no performance gain, maybe used this resurrection opportunity to post my Montes sexy backside... Va Va Va Voooom!!
Yes , I'm going for the Nascar look with them exiting out the side in front of the back tires. These are my old one's. They cracked from the engine harmonics so we designed the new set a little different. Also used stainless steel this round.

Jheeszz, you never stop amazing me. Fascinating to see you working. Has to be many a busted knuckle and thrown wrench, but the payoff is totally worth it. You have done what maybe one handful of people in the whole U.S. have done with your Monte RWD conversion, simply incredible. That exhaust by the way is too waaay cool, wish I had that setup, quicker dump of backpressure. Keep at it, you a crazy wun, dats fo sho...
