Sealing up my K&N Intake and a little polishing

You can totally tell that it's summer for me and work isn't keeping me busy enough

Anyways, I picked up some clear acrylic to mess around with in an attempt to make a lid for my K&N intake. Wasn't sure how it would turn out but after cutting a template and actually making one I really liked the look. Then I got extremely bored and had some left over so I started making a lower plate and side plate to seal everything up :)

^^^^Here's a look at just the lid, probably cost $5 to make and sit on the intake. Actually held in place while driving (not that there's much room for it to go anywhere) If anyone wants one for their K&N I could probably make one for ya lol

Looked around at Lowe's but couldn't find any rubber seal that I liked so I went ahead and purchased some K&N seal from Summit Racing. I'll probably be posting more pics once I get all of the connections cleaned up and the seal all around.

^^A work in progress lol

I'm assuming even with some insulation that this intake won't be any better if at all. Mostly just something to do and be unique

And I polished my t-stat housing haha! :rotfl: You know your bored when you start polishing random stuff! Plan on doing the alternator sometime too... Doesn't have a mirror finish but it was my first time sanding/polishing so I didn't expect it lol

Thanks for looking

Thanks! And yes that was totally the intention lol! I can't afford a whole new CAI so I thought why not try and work with what I have

Hoping Summit ships my rubber seal fast so I can get it cleaned up and looking professional haha.

I would think If you insulated it with this.16 in. x 25 ft. Staple Tab Insulation-ST16025 at The Home Depot
http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pro...b80743_300.jpg

Its fairly cheap and I think it would work good.

Hmminteresting.... Caint completely seal minr though as my hood scoop vents air in to the K&N box. Yours looks sweet!

The box looks great and I agree with Lougreen! With that stuff you can also prevent heat soak from where the tube comes into the box.

Great work!! :)
