Default not so loud exhaust...

im new to the forum and also new to the whole monte thing. i have an 04 supercharged ss. i was wondering if i could put a u bend delete and a high flow cat on and keep the stock exhaust? if i did this would my check engine light come on? or if i cant do this, what exhaust do you guys suggest? i want something that sounds mean when i get on it, but not an annoying loud hum when im on the freeway. would the slp exhaust do this? thank you in advance for all of your help!

hey dan, let me welcome ya to the forum!

Ill do what I can to help you by telling you what Ive done on my 3.4:

Ubend delete
Resinator Delete
Y piping and dual flowmaster 40's

I love mine because just cruising, you dont really hear the exhuast 'till you get up to the 3500+ RPMs. It makes it very quiet for when you have cruise control on (becuase your cruise puts your RPMs at about 2/2.5k), or creeping through your town. I also gained a good amount of power to switching to new mufflers, much more than me running on the stock one. Im sure there will be a member to help you even more... but, my 2 cents, dont be too afraid of switching out that stock muffler, you will only see gains!

hey, thats exactly what i have done to mine, well i have

high flow cat, u-bend delete, resonator delete, and kept the factory mufflers, its not too loud, just has a nice little rumble to it, but if you want basicly no noise, keep the resonator or dont put a high flow cat on and that will keep it with no noise

Yup. You can do it at an exhaust shop for about 25-40 bucks or you can buy a full downpipe like I have for sale (shameless plug) and get a huge performance gain while staying in emissions and keeping the sound down.

if you want a good sounding, yet pretty quite exhaust, get the dynomax cat back system.

Are they cheaper than the $800 Magnaflow wants?
