Nice mean sound needed

I have a 03 Monte Carlo NA SS with the 3800 engine in it, I've got some beautiful chrome exhaust tips on it but I would love them to have a nice sound. However, I am also tight on money so the cheaper subbjestions the better! Just not so loud to where I am getting pulled over  Thanks in advance!

Its hard to gey a good deep sound out of these engines. You can get a good sound at idle but they get real raspy in the higher rpm range.

Best thing I can suggest is watching youtube videos of our cars with exhausts.

Mine I run a cutout on the downpipe so when the cutout is open its open downpipe and very loud and when cutout is closed its very quiet.

Here is a video of mine for you, 2nd car in the video. Glasspack in place of the resonator and no mufflers. In my opinion one of the best sounding 3800's downside is its loud and i've been ticketed for it lol. I've heard good things about replacing your resonator with a glasspack and keeping some kind of mufflers.

Being fussy about how my ride sounds, had to go back and tried different combos. Found a sound I am very happy with, by putting 2 Super 44's a ZZP resonator, as much 3" that will fit and 4" tips. Discovered that the bigger tips took away more of the bumble bee rap. Only recording I could find is one that still had a 12" glass pack instead of the ZZP piece. You can guess why I changed it again...lol

If you're tight on funds remove the mufflers & replace them with just pipe(s) that extend to the factory location. That's what I did. It sounds good but not unbearably or illegally loud. I had a shop down the street weld them up. Parts cost was only about $20
