Default New CAI :-)

Got my CAI put on last weekend. I bought the parts from SFXPerformance.com. The parts are Spectre Performance. I bought one 4" diameter 22 degree angle 6" lengthpipe, a 3.5" to 4" coupler adaptor, and a universal 6" cone filter. Here are the pics.

the purple foam in the pics is my makeshift mount for now. haha. im gonna fix that when i get a better idea.

tell me what you think.

looks good, As far as a mount those are not to tuff to make.

Just take a flat peice of Aluminum and bend it so it will attach the a bolt in the car already there.
Then take the filter side and mount it on to it there.

What a buddy in Ge. did is he took a peice of Aluminum and took it in had them cut a hole trew it big enough to fit the tun and filter threw there. this is where the support for the filter is and also it holds the hoses togeather and out of harms way of things.

Worked pretty good and think he only paid like 15.00 Euro for it

'Slayer,
Don't feel too stupid. I wouldvery much like to knowthe same. CAIs are a huge topic with vette guys, second only to headers/cat-backs. I got very familiar with my old C6's breathing, from air intake to intake manifold to headers to cats to cans. I have to admit looking at the sideways mounted engine in my SS& how it gets its air to how it deals withthe exhaustis like comparing college algebra to 3rd grade math when you compare it to the vette's traditional V8/RWDsetup.

Cheers,
Glenn

if you've significantly increased the amount of air getting to your engine a tune could be in order.

Slayer, to answer your question.....I have no clue. I just call it that because it seems to be the popular thing to do haha. I guess it really doesnt bring in cooler air, but it does bring in a heck of a lot more air.
