Need help with choosing exhaust..

Hiya,
Im kind a newbie when it comes to cars and i have a few questions about my exhaust.. hope you can help.

I have a completely stock 2001 Monte Carlo SS naturally aspirated. I wanna do exhaust the whole way back. Im not really trying to make my car a lean mean street machine or anything i just want something thats gonna sound good but not tooridiculously loud.. and if i can gain a little bit of horse in the process than thats okay too. I was also wondering whether headers and running three inch pipe the whole way back would be worth it on a n/a 3.8 or not. Anyone who can help i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

3" is too much for a n/a 3.8 unless you're planning on going up to about 350 hp or so. I posted a threat in the General Monte Carlo Section (about 4 sections above this Headers, Intake, and Exhaust Section" Entitled "FAQ, CAI and Exhaust" or something to that affect. Check that out. Read up on the resonator, the u-bend, and I wrote a brief description of hte major muffler brands as well. Check around on you tube and just type in the brand of muffler and the engine in your monte. The best way to decide which muffler is best is to listen for yourself :)

Here's the link https://montecarloforum.com/m_78757/tm.htm. I say do 2.5" random tech downpipe with high flow cat, back to Borla catback. That is a pretty expensive set up but you get what you ask for. Borla is pretty much best of the best, all stainless steel and a good, deep mellow tone and then screams when WOT

If you don't want to spend an arm and a leg on a cat back, but want a great quality product, I would look at the GMPP catback. I love mine.

I have th RT downpipe, hi flow cat and SLP cat-back. I'm pretty happy with it.

My Dynomax system cost around $400 I think. It's not stainless but I painted the pipes with exhaust silver paint and it's held up well. SS still gets surface rust especailly if you live in cold regions that use salt on the roads. It's kinda quite compaired to other systems, but I like the sound.

I'd recommend a DynoMax Superturbo setup. It's what i've got, along with the u-bend delete and I love how my Monte sounds, deep, not raspy at all and not annoying on the freeway.
