Default 1988 Monte Carlo SS Intake Manifold

Need some help. I am putting a 350 in my 88 Monte Carlo SS.I was going to use my stock intake mainifold, but found that it is cracked. I have aanother intake, but it doesn't have the inlet for the hose that "T"s off thehose that feeds into the heater core. What purpose does diverting coolant into the intake manifold serve. Is it extra cooling needed by the 305.Will it be OK to use the manifold withoutthis extra inlet on my 350? Thanks, Darron

hello,
one of the better intakes out there is the edelbrock performer series manifolds. depending on the year of the engine, if it is a 1987, you have to use a 87 on up manifold due to design changes of the intake manifold. the bolts are located in differant locations. if you are looking for torque i recommned the edelbrock performer, which is a dual plane manifold. if you are looking for hp, i recommend the edelbrock performer rpm manifold. these manifolds can use either a square bore or spread bore carb on them.

Thanks for the info. I've looked at some of the aftermarket manifolds, but the ones I've seen don't have the inlet port for the hose coming off the heater hose. Is this going to be a problem? I also want to keep the stock air cleaner, so the manifold that I choose has to leave me clearance. Anyone out there done a 350 conversion on a 87/88 Mone SS?

Thanks for the offer djhixter. The item that has stopped my progress is the intake manifold issue. Seems that the manifolds I've seen do not have the water inlet port on the back rear corner. The stock SS manifold has this port, which is fed coolant from the heater hose. Why is this extra inlet port there? Is it extra cooling that the 305 needs? Is it going tobe OK not to have this inlet on the new 350? I'm trying to use all the smog stuff and original carb. Thanks.
