K&N Cold Air Intake on 04 SS
 

i have a 04 monte ss with 40 series flowmasters and wanted to know how much hp it would bring and how will it sound? will the car be more responsive?

it will most likely bring 5-10 hp. it should feel more responive yes and generally with more air comes more combustion creatinga deeper tone to you exhaust. might not be noticalbe tho. do they make a programmer for your car? if they do that will help bring out its full potential.

Horsepower gain, and feel is pretty insignifcant. The actual power difference is pretty small- especially on that stock of a setup; I really doubt you're gonna be able to feel the difference.

As for sound- it depends if you're supercharged or not. If you are, it'll scream like a banshee when you floor it. If you're NA, it'll just be louder up front bya tad. Most intakes on these engines also produce a pretty loud sucking noise on cold startups and such.

Don't waste your time on a non SC motor, its just a waste of time.

There will be next to no HP gain. The mufflers aren't a restriction till about 300 hp to the wheels.
